
More than 1.47 million devotees have participated in the holy dip at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati on Thursday, as reported by Uttar Pradesh government officials. Among the participants, 500,000 are Kalpavasis, and 979,000 are pilgrims attending the ongoing Mahakumbh, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, which continues to draw devotees from across the globe.
As of February 12, the total number of devotees who have taken a dip in the Triveni waters has surpassed 482.9 million, marking a significant milestone in the grand event.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, along with the Council of Ministers, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Governor, MPs, and MLAs, also headed to Prayagraj on Thursday to take part in the holy dip at the Mahakumbh 2025. Prior to his departure, CM Sai expressed his gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly for inviting them to the grand event.
“The Council of Ministers, the Speaker of our Legislative Assembly, the Governor, Members of Parliament, and MLAs are all going to Prayagraj to take a holy dip in the Mahakumbh. I am thankful to UP CM Yogi Adityanath and the Speaker of the UP assembly for inviting us,” said CM Sai.
Additionally, the ‘snan’ for Magh Purnima was successfully concluded on Wednesday, marking another significant milestone for the administration. Urban Development Department Secretary Anuj Jha emphasized the successful conclusion, noting the efficient arrangements made for the event.
“The snan of Maghi Purnima has concluded successfully. It is a huge milestone for us. Lakhs of Kalpavasis and crores of pilgrims have visited here in the last month. The Urban Development Department was the nodal department, and all the arrangements were made efficiently,” said Jha.
The Mahakumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is the largest spiritual and cultural gathering in the world. The event will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.
