Various delegations met with Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), to discuss their concerns and request interventions on key issues.
One of the delegations, comprising outsourced photographers from the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), raised grievances regarding the termination of their services and the non-payment of salaries for the past three months. They highlighted that a similar issue had been resolved with the LG’s intervention in October last year, but this time their contracts were terminated in mid-January, and salaries have not been paid since November 2024. In response, the LG directed the Director General of Police (DGP) Ladakh to investigate the matter and take appropriate action against the outsourcing agency.
In a separate meeting, a delegation from the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Parents Teacher Council, led by Chairman Tashi Angchuk, sought the LG’s intervention in appointing a new principal for the school. The delegation informed the LG that a reliever has not been appointed since the transfer of the previous principal in May 2024. They also raised concerns about inadequate heating facilities, the need for renovation of dormitories and staff quarters, and issues related to garbage collection at the JNV school.
Additionally, a delegation from Bogdang village, led by Nambardar Mohd Mussa, requested the establishment of a CD Block and Naibat for the village. They also emphasized the urgent need for the renovation of the Army Goodwill School in Bogdang. The LG responded by instructing the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 14 Corps, Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, to look into the matter and take necessary actions. He also informed the delegation that further block-level works would be undertaken once the works for the five new districts announced for Ladakh are finalized.
The meetings were attended by Commissioner/Secretary Dr. L Franklin, Deputy Commissioner Leh Santosh Sukhadeve, Secretary of DIPR Vikram Singh Malik, and Secretary of School Education Bhanu Prabha.
