
KANGAN (GANDERBAL), FEBRUARY 22: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah officially inaugurated the 82-meter-long Akhal Bridge over the River Sind in Kangan, Ganderbal district, on Saturday. The bridge, constructed at a cost of ₹8 crore by the Public Works (Roads and Buildings) Department, connects several villages in Kunmul-Akhal and surrounding areas.
In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the significant benefits the bridge would bring, including improved transportation, boosted economic activity, and enhanced living conditions for the thousands of residents in the district. He expressed confidence that the bridge would serve as a key infrastructure development, easing long-standing connectivity issues and providing much-needed relief to the local population.
Local public representatives, including MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, DDC member Kangan, and senior civil and police officers, were present for the event, alongside a grateful community that expressed appreciation for the Chief Minister’s efforts in addressing their long-standing demand for better connectivity.
