
Minister for Jal Shakti Department, Javed Ahmad Rana, informed the House that the government has launched 130 Water Supply Schemes (WSSs) in Samba district, with a total value of Rs 391.57 crore, under the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Minister was responding to a question raised by Surjeet Singh Salathia in the Legislative Assembly. He explained that, out of the allocated Rs 391.57 crore, an expenditure of Rs 179.10 crore has already been incurred. He also highlighted that 83 of the schemes have been completed, while the remaining ones are at various stages of progress. The Minister assured that all projects will be completed within the mission timelines, contingent upon the release of necessary funds from the Government of India’s CSS (Central Sponsored Schemes) and the corresponding UT component.
Regarding the execution of Water Supply Schemes in the Samba constituency, the Minister mentioned that there are currently 76 schemes under execution. Of these, 54 schemes, worth Rs 160.92 crore, are being implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission. An expenditure of Rs 80.69 crore has been incurred to date, with 36 schemes completed and 18 more under progress.
Additionally, the Minister stated that 22 schemes are being undertaken under CAPEX/NABARD at an estimated cost of Rs 21.82 crore. Of these, Rs 11.57 crore has been spent, with 17 schemes completed and the remaining ones in various stages of completion.
Legislator Chander Prakash Ganga raised supplementary questions during the session.
