
JAMMU, MARCH 11: In a continued effort to uphold food safety and safeguard public health, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu, Rakesh Kumar, has imposed a fine of ₹3.64 lakh on several businesses for violating the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006. The fines were levied on manufacturers, distributors, and retailers found selling substandard and misbranded food products in the district.
Strict measures have been taken to ensure food quality standards are met and to prevent the sale of unsafe products. Businesses have been reminded to uphold proper hygiene and sanitation in food handling, conduct regular quality checks to prevent contamination and adulteration, ensure accurate labeling and packaging in line with FSSAI guidelines, and train staff in safe food handling practices.
All commercial establishments have been directed to strictly adhere to food safety regulations to avoid legal repercussions. The administration has issued a stern warning to businesses, emphasizing the importance of following food safety norms to protect consumers and prevent further penalties.
