
JAMMU, FEBRUARY 17: Yudhvir Sethi, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Jammu East, visited the Peer Kho Temple today to assess the preparations for the upcoming Mahashivratri Mela, scheduled to be held from February 25 to February 28, 2025.
During the visit, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ansuya Jamwal briefed the MLA on the arrangements being made by the district administration for the festival. Director of Tourism Jammu, Vikas Gupta, informed the MLA that the Tourism Department would host various events during the four-day Mela, including cultural programs and Indian-style wrestling matches.
Earlier, a meeting had been convened by the ADC to coordinate the preparations for the event, with officers from several departments in attendance. Key aspects reviewed included health services, traffic management, security, and sanitation arrangements.
The MLA directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation officers to ensure cleanliness in and around the temple premises and instructed the Floriculture Department to implement detailed floral decorations to enhance the festive atmosphere. He also stressed the importance of ensuring adequate street lighting along Circular Road by the Power Development Department to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims and visitors.
Additionally, the MLA evaluated the arrangements for other religious events, including the Jhanki on February 25 and festivities at other prominent heritage temples, such as the Panjbakhtar and Ranbireshwar temples.
The review meeting was attended by several officers, including Director Tourism Jammu Vikas Gupta, SP North Vivek Shekhar, Joint Director Tourism Sunaina Mehta, Tehsildar Jammu Khas Paramdeep Singh, and members of the Peer Kho Temple Management Committee.
